His Faithfulness, not Mine

The praxis of an early morning Bible reading and reflection writing should have been started since the beginning of the year but doing different things shouldn’t be spelled in a time limit over desire in pursuit of it. I confess, I did a lot of things, inspired to write when I was just a conventional employee having no single thought of colossal responsibility. I woke up early while everyone was still on their bed beautifully dreaming. I walk pleasantly in dimness and crispness of air like I was fully with the Lord subjectively rather than objectively. I felt the deep affection and was struck with a firm blow. Where did that go?

The last prayer I uttered in 2017 was “Lord, please get me out this office door.” So He did off the latch anew. I was given prestige and a right set of circumstance in any way having reached the most advanced stage in a process. All the more so, predetermined to go through unfamiliar situations. Be that as it may, I lost control of focus. Sure I didn’t turn away but I failed to remember and paid no heed to His words invariably. And again, everything was falling in pieces and was shaking on cruise control.

But God, He is a God of second chance and can restore brokenness. He can refurbish the shattered.

Reflect on God as Faithful

If you are going through what I went through of wanting to hear from Him loudly but cannot because the world’s noise is louder and your focus is swaying, draw from His presence first thing in the morning. Since the world is a battleground vastly in the workplace, every test is present and you’re a reflection of your response.

In my reading, Leviticus 26 harps on the reward of obedience of following His decrees and careful to obey His commands will He send rain in its season and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruits. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.

This very season, I am undergoing a bit of disappointment at work. I was doing great the past two months until the rain pours, continuous failures occur. It got me thinking like, “Is this a caution light for my skepticism?” As I continued to read the book of Leviticus, there’s this punishment of disobedience in verse 16, keeping not His commands will bring sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and sap your strength. You will plant your seeds in vain because your enemies will eat it. He will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. Your strength will be spent in vain because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.

“He will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.” I paused, reflected and inhaled the brass tacks of Him breaking your pride for it is breaking His heart. Maybe it’s not just about pride but self-centeredness, withdrawnness and the distance that He wants to bridge the gap.

By all means all from His grace, I started doing what was started and I pray that this will continue in the midst of having many irons in the fire of life.

The Psalm of David in 23 emphasize that the Lord is a shepherd, He makes you lie down in green pastures and leads you beside quiet waters, He refreshes your soul. He will guide you along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though you walk through the darkest valley, you will fear no evil for He is with you, His rod and His staff will comfort you. Surely, His goodness and love will follow you all the days of your life and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Yes, His faithfulness forever betwixt and between your dependence leads to a genuine repentance of the human heart.
