Engraved for Keeps

Those past limited days of clinging with you is incomparable to a worth of one’s weight in gold. Your head was always on my knees and my heart melts whenever you look up at me – oh that loyalty and sweetness baby. You are my other eye that sees the beauty of everything and my other ear that hears the peaceful sound of the winds. You thump your tails and run around us calling for a play until Mama gets angry and stones you within. But you were very insistent; you still clown ‘til it makes us grin. Where we are, there you are. I’d simply love that minute when we went to church and I stubbornly shoo you out but you stayed still, sat inaudibly in the aisle looking at me with those tantalizing eyes and waited ‘til I ended my testimony.



What’s witty about you is having your own sense of individuality. You like not to eat native chicken & birds’ bones, only domesticated fowl’s, and was not bothered by hunger. You were everybody’s dog but you were every dog’s foe all the same. The truth is, we surely get irritated by your deafening and unstoppable bark. But here and now, you know what? Your silence is more deafening. You have stopped barking and it hurts… a lot.
